Primary + Bath

We update homes to the way we live. Older homes do not typically afford laundry spaces outside of the basement because they were not common appliances until the 1950s. This house was built around 1915 with a total of 5 baths. Combining the laundry + bath was a solution aesthetically and from a functional standpoint. Other modifications to this bathroom included removing the 100 + year old tub to build a spacious walk-in shower. In front of the shower, we used a dresser and converted it into a vanity. This family heirloom was originally from a farmhouse in Illinois. On either side of the vanity, we built custom shelving to match its aesthetic for additional storage, large enough to accommodate laundry baskets. Additional elements of the bathroom include custom shelving above the laundry, stackable laundry for efficiency, adaptable shower equipment for safety, frosted glass on the window to maximize natural light, custom woodwork throughout.
